TEAM COVERED THREE ORPHANAGES TODAY

Swetli Put Orphanage
Today we (Jennie, Bryan. Lynn and Ruby) traveled to Bishkek to pick up items made for us by the orphanage.
(Andy went with John to two orphanages to make some deliveries - see the www.actofkindness.blogspot.com to get their activities of the day.)
We brought back
lots of slippers, urts, ornaments, glass cases.  These will be sold at our different fundraising activities to bring funds into LAMb for work in the orphanages.  These funds help in hosting parties, buying coats, clothing and other needed items.

Bryan is attempting to figure out which pair is best for him - the size 15 or he size 1.  Hmmmmm.  Guess again Bryan!

The shelves were full for us - first part of order - we get the rest in July.

This little gal is the expert at making camels for the Navity Sets which are part of the Urts.

Our native craft directors were estatic at the sale.  They keep track of every pair - asking which child made the item.  The child then gets 1/2 the sale price into their account and the other half goes to the orphanage to continue buying supplies.
Below - they are writing down EVERY ITEM AND WHO MADE THE ITEM.

WE LOVE THESE FOLKS - THEY UNDERSTAND BRINGING HOPE AND DIGNITY TO CHILDREN!

Then as we headed through the city - they were in practice for the big Holiday tomorrow.  What a wonderful surprize to get to see the dress rehersal today!

Our final stop today was at the Osh Market.  Our team wanted to take back some local crafts for friends and family.  It was a fun stop and they purchased a few little trinkets to remind them of the wonderful artistic culture of Kyrgyzstan.

This is Lynn's favorite market.  It is down the street from our apartments.  This lovely lady is always overjoyed when she sees him coming down the street.  AND she selects the tomatoes.  This seems to be a common practice around town.  The Cake lady will not let him select - often telling him NIET when he  points at a cake.  She then pulls out another one and puts it in a box and sends him off.  Today, he went to purchase the candies for the journey out to the mountains tomorrow.  The candy lady - would not let him select - she boxed up a large amount of candies and sent him off.  He loves this  "favored shopper" status he is getting.  And of course they love him too.

Final stop for the day - bread for dinner.  Made out doors in a clay oven.  Really good - fresh and NO preservatives!  Better eat it quick.

TOMORROW - OFF TO THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE MEN FROM THE DISABLED HOME IN ISKRA....
